Football commentary returns to Paulton Rovers on Tuesday August 21st with the visit of Melksham Town. Full match action of Rovers first home game of their Evo-Stik League South Division One campaign will be broadcast, online, by former Somer Valley FM commentator, Ian Nockolds.
Ian said, “During my time at Somer Valley I had the pleasure
of commentating on friendlies between Paulton and Melksham, but never a League
game. Having lived in Melksham for 8 years I’ve adopted them as my local team,
but the time I spent covering Paulton means they will always have a very
special place in my heart. I’ll be the only person at the game who doesn’t care
about the result!”
Melksham and Paulton have a rich shared history. Initially
competing against each other in the Western League, the now Melksham Town
Chairman, Darren Perrin, was the manager that took Paulton Rovers into the
Southern League. On the pitch the likes of Lee Davidson, Mike Perrott, Sam
Jordan, Rob Brown and Luke Ballinger have all represented both Clubs.
Returning to the commentary box alongside Ian will be
Paulton press officer, Tony Walsh, with second half commentary featuring Darren
Perrin.
Full match commentary of the Evo-Stik League clash will be
broadcast online at www.spreaker.com/user/nockers
from 7:30pm on Tuesday August 21st. Further information about the
match, including team news, will be available on both Club websites, as well as
www.somervalleyfm.co.uk/.
